Product compliance can save time, reduce costs and minimise risks for the company and the customer. The following is a non-exhaustive list of product compliance regulations. Information Regarding Product Legal Regulations Dangerous Goods The merchant is responsible for compliance with the transport regulations according to the Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) and informs us of any special regulations (no shipment via parcel channel, etc.) and the UN number regarding certain products. Alcohol For alcoholic products, it is mandatory to indicate the alcohol content. For EU-Hub please note the following information sheet: EU-Hub Assortment Check Pharmaceuticals / Medical Devices As Digitec Galaxus AG is not licensed as a pharmacy, only pharmaceuticals of category E are sold. Due to the different categorisation in Switzerland and the EU, only products from Switzerland are sold. When transferring medical products, it is important to note that all information in the online shop, on the product and on the product insert is available in three official languages (German, French, Italian). Here too, the Digitec Galaxus AG platform only offers products from Switzerland. Baby Food It is prohibited to label infant formulae or follow-on formulae in such a way as to discourage breastfeeding. It is also forbidden to use pictures of babies, other images or wording that could idealize the use of this food. The use of terms such as «humanised», «materialised» or «adapted» is prohibited. Biocidal Products and Plant Protection Products Biocidal products and plant protection products must be labelled with the mandatory product label: «Use biocides or plant protection products with care. Always read the label and product information before use». Biocidal treatment A product treated with biocides may contain one or more biocidal products for protection against microorganisms, insects or other harmful organisms. Such products must indicate their biocidal properties (e.g., odour control) and the name of the substance concerned (e.g., silver) in their product description. Examples of «treated products» are sportswear with sweat protection or a keyboard with a germicidal coating. Cannabidiol (CBD) In principle, there is no legal basis in Switzerland that regulates the sale of CBD products, as these - unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) - are not subject to the Narcotics Act. However, manufacturers must market their CBD products in accordance with the requirements of the existing legislation (see CBD Oil.). Chemicals Chemicals must be declared according to the GHS labelling system (Globally Harmonized System), in accordance with the Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 applicable to Switzerland. No products are accepted that are labelled according to a predecessor or other system. The import of chemicals not authorised in Switzerland is not permitted. Products of group 2 of the chemicals are not carried by the trader programme. It is therefore prohibited for the supplier to transfer products with the following H-phrases in combination with the respective hazard pictograms to Digitec Galaxus AG without further ado: Electrical Safety See the chapter: What should I be aware of when offering products with a power connection? Energy Efficiency Energy efficiency in Switzerland and the EU is regulated in accordance with Directive 2010/30/EC. Accordingly, the following product categories must have an energy efficiency class and a corresponding energy label: Ovens Extractor hoods Television sets and monitors Dishwashers Heaters Coffee machines (in contrast to EU regulations, coffee machines are subject to energy labelling in Switzerland) Refrigerators and freezers Lamps and light bulbs Ventilation systems Tires Water heaters and storage tanks Washing machines Tumble dryers, tumble dryers and combination units Fireworks Due to the regulations concerning storage, transport and sale of fireworks, Digitec Galaxus AG has no fireworks in its product range. Laser Pointer The import and sale of dangerous laser pointers is prohibited in Switzerland. A dangerous laser pointer is a laser device which, due to its size and weight, can be held and guided by hand and emits laser radiation for pointing (e.g., stylus, presenter), amusement (e.g., cat toys), as well as for aggravation and defense purposes (e.g., use of repellents or personal protective equipment). Solid Wood To increase transparency for customers and to influence their conscious decision to buy, the declaration obligation applies to round and raw woods as well as certain wood products made of solid wood. The following products must be declared: Wood for walking sticks, umbrellas, tool handles Charcoal Wooden frames for pictures, photographs, mirrors or similar objects made of solid wood Seating furniture with main components of solid wood (except sofas with solid wooden feet) Other furniture with main components made of solid wood These products are to be provided with the following information: Trade name The scientific name of the wood or information that allows the consumer to identify the scientific name. The scientific names of the species can be found on the website of the Swiss Federal Consumer Affairs Bureau (BFK) (available only in German, French and Italian). The origin of the wood All information on declaration obligation for wood and wood products is also listed in the relevant federal guideline (available only in German, French and Italian). Food supplements Advertising: labelling, presentation and advertising that suggest food supplements are necessary for a balanced, varied diet are not permitted. The maximum permitted levels: In Switzerland, maximum levels for vitamins and minerals apply. These are listed in the Regulation on Food Supplements by the Federal Department of Home Affairs FDHA (only available in German, French and Italian). The applicable regulations in Switzerland may differ from regulations in other countries. The content of vitamins and minerals is to be transmitted to us as a picture. Fur Digitec Galaxus AG doesn’t offer products made of real fur or with real fur components. Exceptions are skins from domesticated animals such as the horse, cattle, pig, sheep and goat species as well as from llamas and alpacas. This must be taken into account in the product feed.
